SUMMARY:Volunteering at High Hopes - General Information Session and Sidewalker Training
DESCRIPTION:High Hopes is a Therapeutic Riding and Carriage Driving Center\, based in Old Lyme\, Connecticut. We serve over 240 participants each week\, and our participants have a wide range of physical\, neurological\, and emotional disabilities. Their time here may be unmounted\, learning through caring for a horse\, or maybe spent riding or carriage driving. From teens to seniors\, school children to veterans\, families in crisis to individuals in transition\, we are open to all.\n\n\n\nTo service our programs\, High Hopes has an extensive volunteer corps\, but as our program grows\, and the support needs of some of our participants increase\, we are always in need of new volunteers.\n\n \n\nVolunteering at High Hopes is much more than a regular donation of time and service. It involves a willingness to become part of a broader community with a common goal. Without our volunteer's hard work and dedication\, our mission to create a vibrant community where horses and humans improve lives would be no more than words on paper.\nVolunteers must be able to work independently with minimal staff supervision\, and we ask that our volunteers are 14 years of age or older. Many of our volunteers are retirees. Volunteering in the program\, barn\, and facility involve moderate physical activity\; please be sure you are comfortable with the physical aspects of the role you select. We ask that you are available the same day and time each week to volunteer. We assign volunteer schedules and jobs on interest\, experience\, and availability.\n\n\n\nFind out more about Volunteering at High Hopes HERE or click HERE to register for an introduction and training. We would love to see you here at the farm - where horses and humans improve lives!
