Online class - Storytelling with Collage
We are each a unique soul and as a “Creative” inspired by all we see! As a” Creative”, we are compelled to collect, gather, and put together in meaningful ways, all we feel and think. Gathering organic, natural materials, colorful and tactile ephemera, can be used to SHARE and INSPIRE A STORY!
This session, we will explore, collect and organize materials into bundles to create a visual layout for our stories and then learn to adhere them to a substrate using 140 lb. paper cut into 8 inch squares as the support. We will work on design, placement and composition and how to choose a focal point image.
Start gathering twigs, bark, flat stones, flowers, Queen Anne’s Lace and leaves which you should, ahead of class, press in between heavy books with some wax paper. Also collect a variety of papers both commercially bought and handmade. Visit fabric and antique shops to find different textured and patterned fabrics, unique stamps, stencils and inexpensive metal charms. These plus learning to use distress ink or pastels to tint the edges will be the fun details that finish your story. Once registered, additional info, visuals and ideas will be emailed to you.
