Free Repair Café: Help Keep Things Out of the Trash!
The Rockfall Foundation, in cooperation with the City of Middletown Recycling & Public Works and RiverCOG, will be hosting a Repair Café on Saturday, June 10, at the deKoven House Community Center in Middletown at 27 Washington Street, Middletown, CT. Skilled volunteers will help fix and teach you how to fix your things—saving you money and keeping items working and out of the garbage. Participants are responsible for obtaining any necessary replacement parts.
The objectives and goals of a Repair Café event are to promote sustainability, reduce waste, and foster a sense of community. By extending the lifespan of items through repairs, Repair Cafés contribute to waste reduction and combat the throwaway culture. They also serve as platforms for educating and raising awareness about sustainable living and environmental issues. Ultimately, Repair Cafés strive to create a positive impact by encouraging self-sufficiency, fostering social connections, and inspiring individuals to adopt more sustainable daily practices while building stronger communities.
Type of items to bring: Electronics, clothing, furniture, small household appliances, bicycles, jewelry, and more.
