Community Music School Continues Learning: In-Person and Virtually!

CMS is now enrolling private students for its Spring Semester, which begins Jan 25, 2021. Virtual lessons (via Zoom) are available on any instrument (including voice), and many instructors also offer in-person lessons at the school’s Centerbrook campus.

CMS is one of the few music schools in the area offering in-person instruction, and follows a robust suite of safety protocols: all students (and faculty) wear masks at all times, temperatures are taken of all who enter the building, and lessons occur in large rooms that facilitate social distancing. The school has even outfitted each piano studio with two pianos so that instruments are not shared!

CMS has operated online throughout the coronavirus pandemic, with all of its wonderful faculty members providing virtual lessons for all interested students. In September, CMS also re-opened its doors for in-person instruction after a summer of busy preparations researching and implementing safety protocols. Beyond private lessons, through a generous partnership with the Clark Group/Centerbrook Properties, the school also resumed safe rehearsals with its two larger ensembles: String Ensemble (a string orchestra of 25-30 members), and The New Horizons Band (a concert band geared toward Senior Citizens). One thing is for certain: nothing seems to stop this community of musicians from “keeping the music going!”
