The Acton Public Library will be accepting poetry submissions for its twenty-fifth annual Poetry Competition starting January 14, 2019 through February 25, 2019. The rules for submissions are as follows: poems must be original and unpublished, the author must be a resident of Connecticut, one poem per letter size page, no more than 40 lines per poem, all poems to have a title, author’s name, address and phone number should appear on the back (this information not submitted to judges) students are asked to add their grade level, no more than three entries per person are allowed.
The contest is open in the following divisions: Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-8, Grades 9-12, and Adult. Entry forms are available at the library or on the website www.actonlibrary.org. Winners will be notified beginning April 17, 2019. Winning poets will read their poems and receive their awards at the library’s annual Poetry Night, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
